John Marcus had the biggest opportunity to participate in an exchange study in Italy, Milan at the Politecnico di Milano supported by the HKDI and VTC Design Fund Scholarship. He studied for a Masters's Degree in Science in Design for the Fashion System for the Spring Semester. He lived in Italy for 7 months to deepen his design and lifestyle knowledge.
He was able to learn how to design a system for the fashion industry such as Fashion Retail Experience, Fashion Lifestyle, and Culture & Fashion Trends Forecasting. Moreover, he learned more about the AI and Metaverse which is a timely and current topic.
The exchange studies have allowed John Marcus to have multi-perspective thinking of design to meet the need and want of a variety of customer and issues in terms of design and experience. This can prepare him to be the designer he will be in the future from his learnings from one of the top design universities in the world.
Studying at PoliMi gave him the opportunity to work with professional materials and tools with highly trained and experienced professors in the fashion industry. Studying at PoliMi allowed him to widen his horizons of fashion other than just designing. John Marcus learned more about the fashion business system and the theoretical aspect such as fashion retailing, trend research, and cultural studies. Moreover, studying in a room of full colorful diversity in his class broadened his horizons even more.
Apart from academics, the scholarship allowed him to learn outside of school. John Marcus had attended fashion shows, traveled to places out of Milan, visited many beautiful and famous European museums and so much more to benefit my learning even more. He has learned more about Western culture to open my mind. On top of that, he has made unforgettable memories with the friends he made. These people are precious to me as they are part of the wonderful journey. They all have made me a better version of myself.

Fashion Trends Forecasting
The topics covered in the course include fashion system-product, representation, and display systems, as well as territorial systems in which the project is implemented. Skills in the fashion retail sector, particularly in connection to the shopping experience, interpersonal relationships, and emotional interactions between businesses and the public.
The course assigns a group project (Smart Retail Experience), of which one portion will be completed independently. With that, concepts of market context, design goals, and technological contexts were touched on.
The objective is to provide students with complete training in the fashion retailing industry. Another is to provide students with complete training in the sector of clever retail design. The goal is to show the entire design process for a smart store idea, including phases, activities, and tools

Fashion Retail Experience
Working in the fashion industry to discover trends may appear to be a simple yet intriguing job. It may appear that observation, curiosity, and a healthy dose of intuition are sufficient. The truth is somewhat different and more complicated. Working on trends necessitates maintaining a broad perspective. It becomes critical to be able to set observed occurrences within a larger context, to document, talk about, and evaluate their temporal course. The veracity of the analyses and predictions is only judged by the passage of time. A single field (whether it design, sociology, semiology, or psychology) or point of view is insufficient to develop a trending scenario throughout time; instead, an interdisciplinary approach is required.
The goal of the study the process underlying fashion industry activities and consumer reactions that can lead to fashion innovation, as well as to introduce students to research tools for identifying fashion business evolution and opportunities in both online and offline settings. Group work and assignments are given to us in order to think in multi-perspectives for a fashion trend result.
